With 1078 receptions, 15,934 receiving yards, and 153 touchdowns during the span of his 15-year career, his extraordinary skills on the gridiron and elite athleticism raised the bar for wide receivers in the league. Owens is credited with being one of the most exciting and electrifying players to ever play the game.

Terrell has garnered countless awards and accolades for his work, on and off the field and was inducted in the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

As a wine enthusiast, Terrell wanted to produce a wine and dedicate it to all of the wonderful fans from throughout the years and craft an experience to excite both sports fans and wine-lovers alike.

While drinking Eighty-One, you’ll know immediately that you are not drinking just any other wine because other wines are not made by people with the Hall of Fame pedigree or desire for greatness that Terrell and Tommy Lasorda share.

THE PARTNERSHIP

Lasorda Family Wines is a family endeavor founded by Baseball Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda. Though his reputation and fame was built around the game of baseball, Tommy has always had a special love for wine that stemmed from his father and the family’s Italian roots. Our journey began in 2016 when we teamed up with Paso Robles winemaker Terry Culton to introduce our first vintage of Lasorda. In the years since we have built a portfolio of small production wines that embraces the best of California’s Central Coast. Our portfolio includes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir drawn from the cool-climate Monterey appellation, and Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from the rolling vineyards of Paso Robles. As a family owned and operated winery, Lasorda Family Wines embodies Tommy’s fearless spirit and passion, and crafts its wines to honor and preserve his legacy as baseball’s true ambassador.

THE GRAPES

This wine is rooted in the beautiful Paso Robles Appellation. Close to the ocean (only 6 miles), which creates a gorgeous cooling effect in the evening, Paso Robles' terroir is similar to many parts of the Mediterranean wine regions where the breeze off of the water cools the wine at night. This gives you a distinct profile of flavors and dynamically subtle hints of a whole range of aromas, making really complex but also really approachable wines. Cabs from Paso Robles get the benefit of all the sugars and hardiness created from Paso's hot summer days and all the complexity of a cooler climate wine. They're often perfect for laying down and every vintage will consistently surprise you whenever you open another bottle of the same year as time goes on.
